Helping You Find
The Right Nonprofit Board
There are countless benefits to serving on a nonprofit board — developing as a leader, offering expertise, building connections, serving a mission, and making an impact in the community.
When people have a sense of purpose in their lives, studies show there’s a positive impact on wellbeing. And when employers promote service opportunities to their teams, they are better able to attract and retain talent.
But many don’t know where to begin.
These are the reasons we developed Board Building. The governance experts at Mollard Consulting are ready to work by your side to find the right nonprofit role for the interests, skills, time, and resources you have to give.
80% of individuals who serve on nonprofit boards report becoming better leaders, citing enhancements in skills such as board governance, strategic thinking, and decision-making.

Board Building Benefits:
Finding the right board for each person isn’t easy. Does the nonprofit’s purpose match the leader’s passions? Will the nonprofit be able to leverage the leader’s existing expertise? Can the board position provide growth and learning opportunities?
With Board Building, employers and individuals can gain access to a broader range of local, deserving nonprofits that align with a prospective board member’s passions, expertise, and more. Everyone saves valuable time that would have been spent discovering, researching, and reaching out to local nonprofits that may or may not be a good fit.
For aspiring and seasoned leaders alike, Board Building is committed to leadership development. Leaders receive ongoing, focused support to understand their role and responsibilities as a board member. The governance experts at Mollard Consulting equip them with the skills and know-how to succeed during their first year of board service.
Through Board Building, each leader’s time is valued and well spent. As board members, leaders engage in strategic, ethical, and mission-aligned decision-making. They use their industry-specific skills while also gaining new skills and impactful experiences that are applicable in their current and future roles.
When governance is strong and board members are aligned, the nonprofit organization is focused on achieving its mission, and board members play a key role in that success. Through Board Building, leaders gain insight into purpose-driven leadership, which benefits the nonprofit as well as the leader, their employees, and the customers they serve.
How Board Building Works
Strategic Connections.
Board Building is the first and only software-supported nonprofit board matching service in Central Ohio designed specifically to connect prospective board members with nonprofit organizations looking to enhance their board.
Through Board Building’s online portal, leaders are matched with nonprofits that align on passions and can benefit from the experiences and skills these leaders can bring to the organization — enabling employers, individual leaders, and nonprofits to more quickly and confidently establish the right connection.
Throughout this process, Mollard Consulting provides support to employers and prospective board members on how to best prioritize, communicate, and proceed with nonprofits with which they have been matched.
Ultimately, nonprofits select their new board member(s) following their standard nomination process. Being “matched” makes prospective board members stronger candidates on the list for consideration.
Step 1: Assess
Each prospective board member takes a quick quiz to assess readiness to be a board member. (After the quiz, leaders can explore links to a few free resources that will be helpful throughout the process.)
Step 2: Invest
Make an investment in your community and leadership development with Board Building! Act now to take advantage of Early Adopter Pricing.
Step 3: Learn

Step 4: Build
Once signed up, each leader will build their own profile — including expertise, interests, passions, and more — with the assistance of a Mollard Consulting team member.
Step 5: Match
The Board Building software immediately notifies prospective board members of potential matches with one or more nonprofit organizations that might be the right fit.
Step 6: Review & Communicate
With the support of the experts at Mollard Consulting, leaders can review matches. Mollard team members guide each leader on how to best review, prioritize, and communicate with the matched nonprofits.
Step 7: Meet & Decide
Once contacted by a nonprofit, prospective board members meet with the nonprofit leaders and then move through that organization’s nomination process and selection process. Mollard team members help the prospective board members navigate these processes.
Step 8: Engage
